Oak Island is noted as the location of the so-called Money Pit and the site of over 200 years of treasure hunting Repeated excavations have reported layers of apparently man-made artifacts as deep as 31 meters, but ended in collapsed excavations and flooding. Critics argue that there is no treasure and that the pit is a natural phenomenon, likely a sinkhole.

There has been wide-ranging speculation amongst enthusiasts as to who originally dug the pit and what it might contain. Later accounts say that oak platforms were discovered every 10 feet (3.0 m), but the earliest accounts simply say that "marks" of some type were found at these places. They also say there were "tool marks" or pick scrapes on the walls of the money pit and that the dirt was noticeably loose and not as hard packed as the surrounding soil.[One expedition said they found the flood tunnel at 90 feet, and that it was lined with flat stones. However, Robert Dunfield (a trained geologist) wrote that he carefully examined the walls of the re-excavated pit and was unable to locate any evidence of this tunnel.

The social networking site ‘Twitter’ was used to conduct a mass participation remote viewing ESP study. The easy accessibility of  Twitter made it possible to recruit and engage a large number of participants, and to give them almost immediate feedback.

A majorityvoting technique was used to combine participants’ calls, to avoid stacking effects and to detect any group-level psi effect. For each trial an experimenter visited the target location.

Blind judging was conducted with photographs of the target location and four decoy locations.

Over five thousand responses were gathered over five trials. The first trial employed a non-blind judging procedure to test the hypothesis that believers would be especially likely to exhibit confirmation bias. As predicted, a significant relationship was found between belief in psychic ability and level of perceived correspondence between the
participants’ impressions and the target location.

We stand at a unique time in our history, the rise of the internet and computer technology have contributed to an unparallelled rate of prosperity for the First World. We have created for ourselves and empire unlike any other, a global network of constant trade and communication, a new age of technological advancement. We have come a long way from our humble roots in the Industrial Revolution and the days of Manifest Destiny. We are now pioneers on new digital frontiers expanding our domain from the quantum world to the far reaches of space.

And yet, the empire faces a crisis, a global recession, growing poverty, rampant violence, corruption in politics, and threats to personal freedom. As it was before in other times of crisis, the old stories have begun to repeat themselves. The half truths, this time repeated nightly on cable news and echoed through a series of tubes onto the internet: the empire is strong, change is unwise, business as usual is the answer. In times of uncertainty there are those who seek to add to the confusion, to prey on our insecurities and fears. Those who would seek to keep us divided for their own gain. The pervasive strategy takes many very convincing forms: Liberals and Conservatives, Christians and Muslims, Black and White, Saved and sinner.

But something unexpected is happening. We have begun telling each other our own stories. Sharing our lives, our hopes, our dreams, our demons. Every second, day in day out, into all hours of the night the gritty details of life on this earth are streaming around the world. As we see the lives of others played out in our living rooms we are beginning to understand the consequences of our actions and the error of the old ways. We are questioning the old assumptions that we are made to consume not to create, that the world was made for our taking, that wars are inevitable, that poverty is unavoidable. As we learn more about our global community a fundamental truth has been rediscovered: We are not so different as we may seem. Every human has strengths, weaknesses, and deep emotions. We crave love, love laughter, fear being alone and dream for a better life.

You must create a better life.

You cannot sit on the couch watching television or playing video games, waiting for a revolution. You are the revolution. Every time you decide not to exercise your rights, every time you refuse to hear another view point, every time you ignore the world around you, every time you spend a dollar at a business that doesn't pay a fair wage you are contributing to the oppression of the human body and the repression of the human mind. You have a choice, a choice to take the easy path, the familiar path, to walk willingly into your own submission. Or a choice get up, to go outside and talk to your neighbor, to come together in new forums to create lasting, meaningful change for the human race.

This is our challenge:

A peaceful revolution, a revolution of ideas, a revolution of creation. The twenty-first century enlightenment. A global movement to create a new age of tolerance and understanding, empathy and respect. An age of unfettered technological development. An age of sharing ideas and cooperation. An age of artistic and personal expression. We can choose to use new technology for radical positive change or let it be used against us. We can choose to keep the internet free, keep channels of communication open and dig new tunnels into those places where information is still guarded. Or we can let it all close in around us. As we move in to new digital worlds, we must acknowledge the need for honest information and free expression. We must fight to keep the internet open as a marketplace of ideas where all are seated as equals. We must defend our freedoms from those who would seek to control us. We must fight for those who do not yet have a voice. Keep telling your story. All must be heard.

Labour leader Iain Gray issued the demand when he clashed with Mr Salmond at First Ministers Questions in the Scottish Parliament.

The exchanges came just two days after Labour called for an investigation into the way the Government used quotes from work by academics professors Andrew Hughes Hallet and Drew Scott, claiming phrases had been changed to make the case for increased devolution.

Today Mr Salmond insisted Labour's objections boiled down to "the insertion of a square bracket explaining what fiscal devolution means".

But Mr Gray said: "Leadership is a question of character, of trust and of judgment. If you take a piece of disputed research and you then doctor it to mean something else and you then embellish it and multiply the figures up to suit your argument, how can you be trusted?

Just off the tourist mecca of Cancún lies the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. It stretches all the way south to Honduras and is second in size only to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

But like many reefs, it faces threats – from pollution and warming ocean temperatures and overfishing. Add to that the pressure of hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting the area’s waters and the reef’s days could be numbered.

Jason Decaires Taylor is trying to help in a novel way – through art.

JASON DECAIRES TAYLOR, SCULPTOR: The sculptures are actually designed to become artificial reef units. The cement structure that you see behind me is actually a special kind of marine grade cement that’s engineered to attract corals so corals adhere to it, they grow, they make different formation. That in turn encourages fish and other marine life.”

His still ongoing project is sinking some 400 of these sculptures in nearly 30 feet of water. And in just a few months, the statues already attract a wide variety of life.

JASON DECAIRES TAYLOR, SCULPTOR: “Already, I think there’s a thousand different fish living on them. There’s lobsters, there’s big schools of angel fish. And there’s a big coating of algae, which is one of the things to settle.”

Taylor says the colorful display indirectly helps the natural reefs.

JASON DECAIRES TAYLOR, SCULPTOR: “This particular area of Mexico receives a colossal amount of visitors every year. I think over 750,000. And that puts a lot of pressure on the existing reefs. So part of this project is to actually discharge those people away from the natural reefs and bring them to an area of artificial reefs.”

The layout is important – basically Taylor envisions a big neighborhood for fish and other creatures.

JASON DECAIRES TAYLOR, SCULPTOR: “The configuration attracts fish, so there’s huge schools of fish that actually live above the statues and then if there’s any sort of predators or any danger, they sort of drop below and then sort of hide out in the feet area.”

The museum is attracting a growing number of divers. Visitors need to go by boat to reach this spot between Cancún and Isla Mujeres. The area’s dive tour providers are hoping the site both boosts business and helps maintain the health of the reefs.

ROBERTO DIAZ, PRESIDENT, CANCÚN NAUTICAL ASSOCIATION: “This is a perfect balance where we are protecting the reef, where we are bringing the tourists into the natural area, we are providing art to make it beautiful and altogether will help.”

The museum plans to continue adding sculptures as funding is available. The main installation of 400 statues, “Silent Evolution” won’t really ever be finished, since the marine life will keep adding touches for centuries…

Art and the beauty of the natural world – together may offer a means of helping preserve marine life.

A pod of about 1,000 dolphins was spotted off the north east coast of Skye

A group of wildlife spotters has encountered a massive pod of dolphins on a boat trip off the north coast of Skye.

The boat's owner Nick Davies, who operates out of Gairloch on the mainland, estimated there were about 1,000 short-beaked common dolphin.

He said he had only seen such a sight once before in 15 years of operating.

Last June, a "superpod" of more than 400 short-beaked common dolphin was recorded in the Moray Firth.

Christina Gore, a 61-year-old Earthwatch volunteer who was also on the boat trip, said the water was "boiling with animals".

She said: "It was incredibly exciting. They were swimming under the boat and leaping alongside us. There were older animals doing back-flips, and there were even newborn calves swimming along with the group."

Charlie Phillips, of the WDCS, said common dolphins could be seen in the Inner Moray Firth where the stretch of water narrows in the summer.

He said the numbers in the group seen by Dr Robinson off Fraserburgh were amazing.

Mr Phillips said: "To see wall-to-wall dolphins is something to behold."
